Next to the definition of domination should be a photo of Ford’s F-Series truck. For over two decades, Ford’s F-150, now in its 12th generation, has been the top-selling truck in the US. That’s a lot of trucks sold.
Since 1948, the F-Series truck has represented toughness, reliability, and a steady revenue stream for Ford. It wasn’t until the second generation bowed in 1953 that the series model names were changed and the decimal was moved a couple places to the right, replacing the F-1 with the F-100 and so on. Bigger numbers, bigger trucks, bigger sales.
The great-great-great ancestor to today’s best-selling F-150 is the F-100. If you are looking for old-school looks combined with modern-day mechanicals and durability of a Ford truck, this 1955 F-100 may be the ticket for you…as long as you are not a purist. As typical of a contemporary resto-mod, the key edict was “go big, or go home.”
And apparently, the owner wasn’t particularly homesick or concerned about brand-loyalty, so he decided to install a built 350 Chevy V-8 and transmission as the heart and soul of the truck. Blasphemous for some, but for the right person, the perfect eff-you to purists all around.
In addition, this old dog received new paint, red leather interior, exhaust, Foose wheels, and a nifty oak bed. With over $60K invested, this multi-award winning black beauty has only 10,000 miles on the new build and is ready for action and the show circuit. It’s currently available on Ebay for a buy-it-now price of $39,000.
