The Vintage Kraft team (i.e., me) attended a couple days of Car Week in Monterey this past Thursday and Friday, thus the paucity of posts lately. But some good came of it as amongst the acres of car porn to be viewed, I was inspired by several classic Alfa Romeos, among others. The GTV, Spider, Giullietta, and others take all the glory, but there is one model that despite its ho-hum exterior, deserves some consideration: the 1750 Berlina. As a successor and replacement to the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the 1750 Berlina shared may internal parts and the windscreen with the Giulia, but after being revised by Bertone, adopted a more modern and angular look more contemporary with the 70s. In the US, the 1750 was a complete replacement for the Giulia, although it continued in production simultaneously with the 1750 for a bit. The 1750 had a longer wheelbase for a more comfy ride and helped Alfa Romeo establish part of its brand as a compact executive car manufacturer. This baby was practical, handsome but not overly stylish, and overall was quite versatile as a city car. Produced from 1967-1977, the 1750 Berlina offered a viable Italian alternative to the pedestrian Ford, Chevy, and Dodge family car. And one can be yours today as evidenced by our featured 1969 1750 Berlina finished in unassuming tan over lovely saddle brown interior. The buyer claims it is practically flawless, rust-free, and drives like new with all-new mechanicals. The value proposition is high in this one. Grab it today at Hemmings for $14,500 before it is too late! If you like your sedans, boxy, roomy, and slightly different than the typical domestic fair, this one might deserve a gander.
