Dodge is a brand and subdivision of Chrysler Group. Originally founded in 1900 as the Dodge Brothers Company by Horace and John Dodge, it was eventually acquired by Chrysler in 1928. But its roots in Detroit and the American automotive industry are deep, particularly playing a key role (as did all American manufacturers) in the WWII industrial complex.
Dodge built a reputation as a builder of rugged military-spec trucks and ambulances that translated into a strong and lasting brand identity to this day. In the post-war era, Dodge successfully marketed and sold heavy-duty trucks, including the B Series, sold from 1948-1953. Some distinctive characteristics of the B Series include a high-visibility “pilot-house” cab with optional rear quarter windows, short wheelbase, and a cross-steering arrangement for a shorter turning radius.
Plus, they just looked pretty cool. And this is the case of this custom rat rod based off a 1949 Dodge truck. Proudly wearing its rusty patina from decades of service, this post-war survivor has found a new lease on life with an added hydraulic lift, Chevy engine, new brakes, and ever-handy flame throwers in the exhaust stacks for good measure. If you are looking for a unique way to haul your garage queen or track car around with a little attitude, look no further than this bad mother f-er. It’s currently for sale at PTSales in Florida for $12,000.
This is a total custom job. Hydraulic lift bed with ramps to drive a vehicle up on it. Chevy 454 Mid engine. Lot’s of custom pieces and accents throughout. FLAME THROWERS in the exhaust stacks. This truck is quite the show piece and a lot of fun. Too many toys force sale. Everything works and she’s street legal and road ready.
